Comb Flower, Wild Sunflower, English Mosa (Prepared Pith). PARTS USED: Seed. BODILY INFLUENCES: In all the vegetable Kingdom, the seeds of the Sunflower stand out as the only readily reliable and available vegetable source of non-harmful Vitamin D. Sunflowers stand tall, with their heads following the path of the sun across the sky each day, as they manufacture their oils and Vitamin D with sun energy. They perform wonderfully as solar collectors and, moreover, as a source of buoyant cheerfulness. It is doubtful that anyone can stand viewing a field of sunflowers in full bloom (the flowers all face the same direction and look like they were all planted to face in the same direction) and remain depressed for very long. We know, for bones to develop properly and be maintained properly throughout adulthood, Vitamin D is a necessity. Vitamin D, working with the glands at the base of the neck and above the chest, known as the parathyroids, holds the mineral calcium in the right places in the body. This provides for steady nerves, strong healthy bones - at any age, healthy skin, proper clotting of blood and a regular heartbeat, as well as preventing muscular cramping and cold sweats. Natural Vitamin D does not dissolve in water. It forms from oil and dissolves in oil. The absorption of Vitamin D from Sunflower seeds is assisted by their own content of light natural oils in which the Vitamin D is formed. Enjoy this good tasting treat from the sun, and Sunflowers, and enjoy the good health it brings. DOSAGE: For maintenance of good health, 20 to 40 drops per meal. For more severe cases, 40 to 80 drops per meal.

That's a myth put together by those who have other interests. There are probably only a dozen or so basic reasons why bodies get into trouble with "germs" or other harmful agents. This is proven by practice in approaching body problems very calmly and very basically. Please know, you can understand what the problem really is. You have not been forgotten. The Creator has provided for you. What remains is, learning to understand how to use our herbal gifts. Regardless of what kind of "dis-ease" name has been put upon what the person is suffering from, look at the following circumstances that could be causing the problem. Look for what natural function(s) has or have been repressed or, in some way, unfavorably altered. Once this is recognized, choose the herb or herbs which resolve what is, in fact, the true malfunction. Then health will return and "dis-ease" will go away.
These books also list the suggested amounts of herbs to use and more detailed information, as well as an in-depth look at the historically recognized functions of each herb and herbal combination, these are two excellent and easy to read books. Both are written to be easily understood without a lot of confusing, abstract, scientific terminology getting in the way. Below is the list of the herbs and herbal combinations, capsules, lotions, included in these two new updated books.
WHY, HOW, WHEN AND WHERE TO USE HERBS IN LIQUID FORM We use herbs in liquid form because they are more easily digested and absorbed. In this way they work the way they are supposed to in the herb books. Remember, the true taste of an herb is your guarantee of it being genuine. If you prefer, however, herbal fluid extracts can be added to juice for flavoring. With herbal extracts we totally eliminate the necessity of swallowing all those pills and capsules and wondering if the capsule you swallow will be able to get through the barrier film on the walls of your stomach and intestines and get to the area you want it to work. Herbal extracts are not concentrates, they are dilutions. This is just like the dilution you make when you put a tea bag into a cup of hot water. When you make a dilution, like a tea, you have a water extract of an herb and this is very easy to digest, much easier than eating the contents of the tea bag. The extracts described in this work are made with water and grain neutral spirits (a natural alcohol). When the extract is kept in the liquid solution for 2 to 4 weeks, we get far more out of an herb than if a capsule of powdered herb is in the body soaking for 8 to 24 hours. Alcohol is used because it readily dissolves all of the oily, waxy, enzyme and hormonal portions of an herb. Water alone cannot do this. In this way, we get everything the herb has to offer to build better health naturally. Dr. William Donald Kelly, a noted U.S. author of many works on regaining health, shares with us the process of our pancreas manufacturing a small amount of alcohol at all times so we don't freeze. This is a natural and ethical use of alcohol by our bodies. When an herbal extract, made with a pure grain neutral spirit (a spirit produced from grains, not a synthetic gas, and devoid of any other material dissolved in it other that water), is taken in a quantity of drops rather than a glassful, the alcohol functions as a carrier for the herb. Indeed, in many cases, an actual complex is formed where the alcohol combines with the herb to form this herb+carrier team. This same alcohol carrier principle is how a mouthwash works, or, an extract of iodine (tincture) when placed on a cut. Many brands of underarm deodorants also follow this principle. When mouthwash is used internally for a mouth bath, a certain amount of the mouthwash is absorbed through the tongue and surrounding structures in the process of cleaning the breath. A tincture of iodine is used externally to kill germs. An underarm deodorant is used for the same purpose and or a perfume effect. If an individual can not tolerate these kinds of products, then they should be advised to use herbal tablets, teas, capsules, powders, or the like, in place of the type of herbal extract we describe here. Herbal extracts, as described in these pages, are taken on or under the tongue, mixed with fruit juice or used externally, as indicated. When used internally, they are carried through the tongue or stomach walls almost directly into the blood stream and thus, bypass the nearly 27 feet of tortured digestive tract. When applied externally to the skin, herbal extracts are rapidly absorbed and enter the blood stream within seconds. They go where they are supposed to go and do what they are supposed to. They are absorbed especially well from the soles of the feet, the palms of the hands, the insides of the thighs, the temples of the forehead, the spine and back of the neck or any other places where you can feel the pulse beat of the heart. This gives the practitioner and the user a great deal more flexibility and is very helpful for babies and grownups who cannot or will not swallow anything. It should also be emphasized here that an herbal extract can be applied to the entire spine, from the tip of the coccyx (tail bone) upward and on to the neck, to work with great rapidity and efficiency. This work and its applied use is given to you because someone does care about you a very great deal and does want to see you well and happy. Once you identify the herbs for your body type, they are your herbal friends and faithful and they will not desert you in times of need. The goal of this information is so you can have a body without a physical problem. Then you are free to be yourself, do things, play, work, move around, look at stuff and enjoy life and be yourself. P.S. Please, as a natural practitioner, familiarize yourself with the appearance, taste and smell of the herbs you use so you can judge their quality, just as you can judge a "good cup of coffee" or a good cup of herbal tea. Then you can taste, judge, compare and recognize the quality of good herbal extracts. You must have an extract of very high quality to get the results promised in this work. Now go for it. With the best of all possible intentions and regards for you, 27 November 1984 and lightly touched again 2006. Dr. A.B. Howard
